Aledo, Texas, is grappling with an unimaginable loss after the death of 14-year-old Brayden Martin. The eighth-grade student at Aledo Middle School was killed in an ATV crash on the evening of May 20, just hours before he was set to walk across the stage at his middle school graduation.

According to authorities, initial reports indicated that a juvenile had been ejected from the vehicle after it crashed in a field.

First responders from Parker County ESD #1, Parker County Hospital District EMS, and the Parker County Sheriff’s Office arrived quickly. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Brayden Patrick Martin.

The timing of the accident has made the loss especially painful for those who knew him. Brayden was scheduled to participate in his middle school graduation ceremony the following day. Instead of celebrating a milestone, classmates and teachers were left mourning a friend whose future seemed full of promise.

His coach, Mike Eggleton, remembered Brayden as a fierce competitor with an even bigger heart. He described him as “a ray of sunlight that radiated on everyone around him.” Those words have echoed throughout the community as friends share stories about his kindness, energy, and infectious smile.

The Wildcatters organization posted an emotional tribute following the news of his death. The team wrote, “Brayden was more than a teammate; he was family. His love for the game, his smile, and the impact he made on everyone around him will never be forgotten.”

Aledo Comes Together in Grief

In its statement, the district urged the community to keep Brayden’s loved ones in their thoughts and prayers. School officials wrote, “We have asked our entire community to pray for Brayden’s family, friends, and teachers.”

The grief has extended well beyond the school campus. Aledo Mayor Shane Davis also shared his condolences, reflecting on the pain felt throughout the city. “The loss of any member of a community is painful, but the loss of a young man with such a bright future is especially difficult to comprehend,” Davis wrote. “There are no words that can truly ease this kind of grief.”
